Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about your Remful sleep test.

Clinical studies show that validated home sleep tests have sensitivity and specificity above 90% for detecting moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (AHI ≥15). The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) endorses home sleep testing as clinically appropriate for uncomplicated suspected OSA. Our contactless device has been validated against simultaneous in-lab polysomnography in clinical trials, meeting FDA performance standards.

The Remful system measures: respiratory rate and breathing patterns (from radar-detected chest wall movement), blood oxygen saturation or SpO₂ (from the included fingertip oximeter), heart rate (from both radar and the oximeter), body movement and position, and total sleep time. From these signals, our algorithms and interpreting physician calculate your AHI (Apnea-Hypopnea Index), identify respiratory events, and determine sleep stage estimates.

🔬Testing & Accuracy
No — and this is important to understand. Home sleep tests are validated for detecting obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), the most common form affecting approximately 84% of patients. They cannot reliably detect central sleep apnea (CSA) or complex sleep apnea. If your results are inconclusive or suggest central apneas, our interpreting physician will recommend an in-lab polysomnography (PSG) study.

A minimum of 4 hours of valid recorded data is required to score a complete sleep study. If your recording doesn't meet this threshold due to poor sleep, a failed device, or connectivity issues, we will send you a replacement kit at no additional charge so you can retest. We recommend opting for the Extended 2-Night Study if you're a light sleeper or have concerns about your first night being representative.

🔬Testing & Accuracy
Remful is designed for screening and initial diagnosis of suspected OSA. If you've already been diagnosed and are on CPAP therapy, Remful is not the appropriate tool for monitoring treatment efficacy — that requires a different type of study (CPAP titration PSG or auto-CPAP data download). Contact our support team and we can help direct you to the right resources.
💳Insurance & Billing

Remful operates as a self-pay service at a flat price of $249 — which is often less than most insurance deductibles or co-pays for in-network sleep studies. We are not currently in-network with any health insurance plan. We provide a detailed superbill at checkout that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. Coverage varies by plan.

Yes. A Remful sleep study qualifies as a medical expense under IRS guidelines and is fully eligible for payment with Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds. Simply enter your HSA or FSA debit card at checkout like a regular card. We also provide a detailed receipt for your records.

💳Insurance & Billing
Yes. Every order includes a detailed superbill containing the relevant CPT codes (95800), diagnosis codes, physician NPI number, and the signed clinical report. You can submit this to your insurance company for reimbursement consideration. We cannot guarantee reimbursement — this depends on your specific plan and benefits.

No. Remful is a completely one-time purchase with no subscription or recurring fees. The $249 price includes the kit, one night of data collection, physician interpretation, your clinical report, and free return shipping. The only additional costs are if you choose optional add-ons at checkout (physician consultation, expedited results, etc.).
